  • It’s curious that only Safari has the ability to share a link to the Apple News app. It’s not an option in Chrome, Firefox, or any other browser I’ve tried.

This is an important feature for me especially when trying to access links behind paywalls for which I have access via our Apple News+ subscription.

Is this just a missed feature for these other browsers? Has Apple not made this option available to other vendors? It would be a very odd limitation to intentionally enforce when the result is more use of the Apple News app.

Unfortunately, I do not have the luxury of only using Apple devices in my personal and professional lives so I would love to be able to standardize on one browser across platforms. Until I can pass links from browsers other than Safari to Apple News, I guess I’m stuck.

  • We put our Harris Walz sign in our front yard yesterday. I’m sure we’re already on somebody’s list, and without hesitation, we’re damn proud of it.

  • After my annual wellness check in mid-July, I decided enough was enough, and I committed to losing about 25% of my weight.

Just over two months into this journey, I’m down over 9%. I’ve settled into new habits and am seeing some great trends in the Apple Health app.

I post this here so readers keep me honest and on this positive path. I’ll update regularly going forward.

It’s been an up and down season for my Chicago Cubs, and while not technically eliminated from the playoffs, the Cubs would need to go 8-0 the rest of the way while the Diamondbacks, Mets, or Braves experience an epic collapse.

On the bright side, the team will likely end the season with more wins than losses, and the last game is a classic Wrigley Field afternoon game starting at 2:20.

It brings back great memories of the businessman specials back in the 90’s and early 2000’s. There’s nothing quite like the smell of a packed Red Line L train from the Loop to Wrigleyville in the hot summer months. Great times!

The NFL app has a very subtle, yet incredibly useful feature to show users which games are playing on TV in their local area. The games in color are available locally, and the games in white require NFL Sunday Ticket.

Huge kudos to the UX designers that came up with that idea!

  • I’ve been on a bit of a Tom Petty kick this week. I had completely forgotten that Tom did a funny thing on the CD of Full Moon Fever at the end of Runnin’ Down a Dream.

Remember that Full Moon Fever was released in 1989, and records and tapes were still quite prevalent at the time. So, at the end of Runnin’ Down a Dream, Tom tells the CD listener that the record and tape listeners need to flip their records and tapes. Very clever at the time.

35 years later, I’m sitting outside listening to a speaker that’s not physically connected to anything with a hand-held computer (phone) in my hand also not physically connected to anything playing music that’s not actually stored physically anywhere near me.

Fascinating stuff for sure, and this is why I love technology. Everything is possible!

  • This is absolutely disgusting. Clearly this sheriff is not a servant of the public and should hold no position of authority in any democratic society.
