Rooting for the Irish tonight. As an Iowa Hawkeye and Illinois native, there is no way I can possibly root for The Ohio State University. It just makes absolutely no logical sense.

Inauguration Day 2025
Inauguration Day is one of my favorite days on the United States calendar. It is a day that many around the world have never had an opportunity to experience. It is a day that is unique to modern democracies where governments transition from one leader to the next without a gun drawn or shots fired. In most democracies, the new leader received the support of a majority of voters although this is not always true in the United States due election laws that have unfortunately not kept up with the expansion of the country and migration patterns of citizens.
This year is strikingly different than all of the Inauguration Days than I can remember since becoming politically aware as a teen. I will not be watching the events, I will not be listening to the speeches, and I certainly will not be celebrating. I have no desire to listen to a mad man’s distorted and perverted views of a world that only exists in his mind and the minds of the monsters that have his ears. I have no desire to hear about American Carnage 2.0 or the Us versus Them themes that he sprinkles throughout his Mussolini-style bombast.
I remain committed to helping those that need help, caring for those that need care, and supporting people that need support. Being humane. When the reality of what they have done strikes the voters in the Fool-Me-Once and Fool-Me-Twice categories, I hope they refocus their energies on doing what is right for their fellow humans and find strength to ignore those that want to tear us apart.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that has read my blog that I am fiercely anti-Trump.
This is absolutely disgusting, and I will do whatever I can to support the people that Trump and his fascist cronies attack and threaten over the next four years or however long this occupation lasts.

“If Kehoe calls a special election . . .”? I would certainly hope it is a matter of when a special election will be held. Otherwise, the governor is going to have a lot of unhappy, unrepresented voters in the 95th District.

I haven’t changed my blogging platform in 20 years, but my patience is running thin. It might be time to resurrect my @RapidWeaver@indieapps.space site!

I spent a little time this evening looking for protests, rallies, events, etc. to try to stop Congress from doing its job tomorrow, but it seems like there’s nothing happening.
Then I remembered that what happened four years ago was completely insane, unprecedented, abnormal, and in many cases, criminal.
That’s who we’ve elected, and I still can’t believe it and will not forget or forgive.

It’s been a rough year for the Chicago Bears, but any win against the Packers is a good win. This is especially true when it hasn’t happened since 2018!
We also got to see some promising signs from Caleb Williams in Green Bay which is a daunting place even for the most veteran of veterans. There is a lot of hope for the future!

Can we all agree that it is absolutely ridiculous that leaders in our country have to hold press conferences to remind people to not randomly shoot guns? Yet another example of why citizens should not be allowed to personally own guns outside of controlled and regulated environments like gun and hunting clubs.
